One of the most original cakes known in Polish cuisine. Its advantage is that it is not filled with any quantity, because only this allows the aroma of nuts and almond kernels to fully develop and unite in a just perfect harmony.

The cake consists of two layers, different in color and taste, which are placed on top of each other and baked together. The first step is to prepare the nut mixture.

Mix the egg yolks with the powdered sugar to a light cream and add the sifted cocoa mixed with a little milk. Then add ground walnuts and crushed vanilla pod to the mixture. Fill this quantity into a large cake pan greased with butter and dusted with potato flour.

On top of it comes the second, the almond mixture.

Whip the egg whites gradually adding sifted powdered sugar until stiff. Add the juice of one lemon, the crushed vanilla pod, the crushed cookie sifted through a large-mesh sieve and finally the peeled, ground almond kernels. Mix the ingredients carefully, and spread the almond mixture on top of the nut mixture. It must be heaped in the middle, because the cake sinks a little bit during baking.

The baking time in the medium heated oven is 50 to 55 min.
