Remove the skin from the papaya, remove the seeds and cut into bite-sized pieces. Bring about 1/2 liter of water to a boil and mix in sugar, vanilla sugar and juice of one lemon.
Add papaya pieces and steam on low heat for 5 minutes. Pour the compote into a glass bowl, cover with foil and refrigerate for 2 hours. Divide the compote evenly into dessert bowls.
Garnish with whipped cream and dust with cinnamon.
