Soak the herring in water and vinegar for 24 hours (store until cooled).

Mix sour cream or crème fraiche and yogurt. Cut the onions into cubes. Cut the drained herring into bite-sized pieces. Mix everything well and let it stand for about 1 hour. Season with salt.
